Dr. Mark E. Shaw, ACBC Biblical Counselor

Dr. Mark E. Shaw joyfully accepted the opportunity to serve on the advisory board of FSM because of its focus on biblical counseling for veterans. Having counseled those who have served in the armed services, his passion is to tenderly speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15-16) believing God's Word transforms the heart by the power of the Holy Spirit

Mark has a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling, he is a certified biblical counselor with ACBC, and he holds a CADAC II addictions counseling certification as well. As the founder of The Addiction Connection, Mark is passionate about bringing the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the heart of the those struggling with addictions. Transformation is possible according to God’s Word, and the "once-an-addict-always-an-addict" lie is being torn down in countless individuals’ lives as the truth is proclaimed in love.

Dr. Shaw serves as the Director of Counseling at Grace Fellowship Church in the northern Kentucky area, and enjoys speaking on biblical counseling all over the Unites States and also internationally.

Many of Mark’s published works focus on addictions, specifically, The Heart of Addiction: A Biblical Perspective; Divine Intervention: Hope and Help for Families of Addicts; Cross Talking: A Daily Gospel for Transforming Addicts; and a booklet entitled Understanding Temptation: The War Within Your Heart. Trying to alleviate or eliminate the brokenness and emotional pain of life by self-medicating with substances often results in life-devastating addictions of all kinds, and so Mark is eager to support the work of FSM however he can.

His leadership team within The Addiction Connection offers training, addiction resourcing, and "commissioning," in biblical addictions ministry. For more information on this growing network of like-minded biblical counselors who work on the front lines of serving addicted people and their families, visit www.theaddictionconnection.org.
