Karen Weigand feels honored to serve on the Fallen Soldiers March (FSM) Advisory Board. She says, "I have the highest regard for people serving in the military, both now and in the past, and for their families. They make sacrifices beyond what many of us can understand, and all too often their great sacrifice goes unappreciated. Even worse, they don’t receive the help they so deserve. I believe FSM is making a difference and would like to contribute in some way to what they are doing. I am especially excited about the biblically based counseling and the healing that can come as people discover the healing power of Jesus. There are all forms of counseling out there but I believe some kinds can only add to confusion and pain. I appreciate so much that FSM offers true biblical counseling, based on God's Word."
Karen’s stepfather, Glenn Poston, served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. In fact, he lost an eye while serving. Karen sensed that the impact of that time in his life never left him. She was so pleased to learn she could submit his name to be honored on the online United States Navy Memorial.
Through the years, Karen has worn many hats. She purchased one retail business and pioneered two additional ones. But eventually her heart for ministry led her to serve on a church staff, become part of an evangelistic ministry, and later work for a Christian discipleship ministry. As she served in the ministry through the years, she developed writing and editing skills. For years she has led a team of Christian professionals within her online editing business. She sold that business in December 2020 but continues to do editing on a contract basis. She is hoping God will use her writing and editing skills to contribute to the growth and effectiveness of FSM.
Karen is married to George Weigand. God brought them together in early 2021 when they were both 79! Their prayer is that the joy they share will encourage others and that God will use them to make a difference.
Her family is so important to her, and she loves spending time with them. Karen says, "Wife, mother, grandmother, writer, editor, Bible teacher, ministry director, retailer, pastoral assistant, motel operator, campaign worker, library assistant . . . these and many more words have described me at times throughout my life. The description serving as an umbrella over all that, however, is ‘follower of Jesus Christ.’ Through the years and many learning experiences—both failures and victories—I have come to realize the one real focus of my life must be to accomplish the purpose of the journey God has for me. Only God knows that complete purpose—my job is to trust him day by day to help me stay on his path."
