Suzzanne Bonn, ACBC Biblical Counselor

Suzzanne Bonn, ACBC Certified Biblical Counselor, Director of Biblical Counseling at Arcade Church, Ranger Mom

Background:
Suzzanne Bonn has been involved in biblical counseling for 21 years, having helped start four biblical counseling ministries in four different churches, and currently serving as Director of Biblical Counseling Ministries at Arcade Church in Sacramento, CA, where she serves as lead counselor, teaches the Biblical Counseling Class, and mentors interns seeking certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). She has been very happily married for 37 years to her wonderful husband, Mark, and they are the parents of eight children, one of whom served for six years as an Army Ranger Sniper, completing three tours of duty in active combat. Her daughter is engaged to a Marine who has served four tours of duty. She will retire her 31-year home-schooling career at the end of the 2020 term to devote more time to biblical counseling, spend more time at the ocean with Mark, and teach better manners to her beloved Siberian Huskies, Bristol and Lea.

Personal Message:
"I’ve seen first-hand the effects of war on combat veterans and the lack of help offered by the VA for those suffering from the cost of war – both emotionally and physically. I have also had the difficult pleasure of ministering to combat veterans, helping them to deal biblically with the after-effects of their tours of duty and the toll they have taken on them and their families. It is critical that the Church take on the role of counselors and supporters to these courageous men and women. If we do not, we know that the world has an inadequate support system for them that is contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and therefore deficient to aid them in their noisy souls, to say nothing of how it will be laced with chemical "solutions" that lend themselves to drug and alcohol addictions that exacerbate the problem. It is incumbent upon us all to get into the swill with those who have prolonged the cause of our freedom, and give them the hope of the Gospel to mend the wounds they sustained in doing so. Joining the Fallen Heroes March gives us all an opportunity to do this in a very intentional and practical way."
