Mitzi Egger, LT COL USAF, Retired, ACBC Biblical Counselor
Mitzi Egger retired from the Air Force as a LT COL in 2016 after 20 years of service as a Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) HH-60G helicopter pilot. She was commissioned through the United States Air Force Academy in 1997 and earned her wings at Fort Rucker, AL, in April 1999. As a career helicopter pilot she participated in Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom along with operations in East and West Africa. She has her Master’s degree in biblical counseling from The Master’s University and is also certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).
Both of Mitzi’s grandfathers served in the military during World War II, and two of her uncles are retired Army officers. Over the course of her career she had the privilege to serve alongside many aircrew members, Pararescuemen, Combat Rescue Officers (CRO), and special operators from all the armed services.
Having witnessed the heavy toll of numerous deployments, combat operations, loss of fellow service members, and months of separation from family and home, Mitzi has a passion to minister to these military members and their families.
This passion inspired her Master’s thesis: "A Biblical Response to the Hopelessness and Despair Associated with PTSD." Her desire is to point these individuals to Christ and the truth of Scripture providing the hope of the gospel to every difficulty and the power to change from the inside out. This passion resonates deeply with the mission and vision of the Fallen Soldiers March.
In addition to her work as a biblical counselor, Mitzi also enjoys cooking, swimming, reading, and spending time with her horse Bella, dogs Keli and Sydney and cat Josey Wales. Mitzi has been married to her husband Jason for over 14 years. Jason is currently an active duty Air Force Combat Rescue Officer and is a prior-enlisted Pararescueman with over 23 years of service.
