Follow Our Service Dog (FOSD)

The newest Service Dogs funded by the Fallen Soldiers March have been selected and are currently in training. You can follow the progress of our newest “recruits” here as we document the long meticulous training program.

sfdlThe Service Dogs are currently being trained by our preferred training organization – Service Dogs of Florida.  They have proven a commitment to provide the highest level of training and are currently leading an initiative to create national standards for all Service Dog training organizations.

The training process is long and extremely thorough – usually between 18 and 24 months, depending on the exact type of training the animal will be receiving.  You can read more about the process, including a general overview of how the training for our dog will progress using the links below.

Finally, the cost of training a qualified Service Dog is extremely high – much more than most Veterans can afford themselves.  Currently the Veteran’s Administration does NOT recognize the value of Service Dogs, and as such does not cover the cost.  Private organizations like Fallen Soldiers March are the primary means for most Veterans to receive a Service Dog.  Fallen Soldiers March is committed to our goal of allocating 100% of donations to the purchase of Service Dogs.  The organization is all volunteer and operates on the generous donations of individuals and companies which seek to underwrite any operating expenses.  If you can help our Veterans please consider a donation today.

Our current Service Dog was located at the SPCA Florida shelter located in Lakeland, Florida.  They work to find homes for 5,000 homeless cats and dogs every year.  Finding a candidate at an animal shelter like SPCA Florida is always the ideal scenario.
