Curtis Solomon, MDiv, ThM, PhD, Former USAF Staff Sergeant, BCC Executive Director
Dr. Solomon is excited to serve on the Advisory Board of Fallen Soldier’s March because of their commitment to bring true hope and help to our nation’s warriors and families through the gospel of Jesus Christ and His written Word.
Dr. Solomon’s passion for bringing biblical soul care to members of the military community has deep roots. Military service runs in the family, his father also served in the USAF and his maternal grandfather retired after 20 years service between the Army and Air Force. In addition to personal and familial military service, Dr. Solomon’s desire to bring true hope and healing to our nation’s warriors was deepened by his time working for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. That passion drove Dr. Solomon to emphasize biblical solutions to Post Traumatic Stress as the center of his doctoral studies. His dissertation, Evaluating The Legacy Program of the Mighty Oaks Foundation: a Mixed Method Study. This dissertation was the first empirical study done to evaluate the effectiveness of biblical counseling. It has been used to advocate for increasing veteran’s access to faith based treatments before both Congress and the White House.
Dr. Solomon currently serves as Executive Director of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. A ministry that advances biblical counseling worldwide by unifying the leadership of the movement. He also serves on the advisory board of the Mighty Oaks Warrior Programs and the Faith Based Veterans Service Alliance.
Dr. Solomon enlisted in the 146th Airlift Wing of the California Air National Guard in April of 1999. After the 9/11 attacks he was activated under Operation Noble Eagle. He transferred to the 123rd Airlift Wing of the Kentucky Air National Guard in 2002. Shortly after arriving in KY, he was activated again in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was honorably discharged holding the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2005.
Dr. Solomon’s military service and introduction to biblical counseling both began when he was pursuing undergraduate studies at The Master’s College (now University). He earned a BA in Biblical Studies in 2002 and went on to earn a Master of Divinity (MDiv) in 2007, a Master of Theology (ThM) in Christian Philosophy (2020), and Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Counseling (2020).
